Valliammai Engineering college was established on September 9, 1999 and presently conducts 7 Under graduate courses and 8 Post graduate courses. The college has highly qualified, dynamic and dedicated renowned faculty both from academic and industrial background. Besides, the students bring laurels to the college by securing university ranks.
It is situated in an extent of 13.5 acres and is by the side of NH 45, between Tambaram and Chengalpattu. The serene atmosphere with the surrounding greenery is conductive to the pursuit of higher studies.
The college functions from a multi – storey building complex of 59,000 square metres to accommodate the demands of ever increasing number of students.
The Valliammai Engineering College is a part of the SRM Group of Educational Institutions, sponsored by the Valliammai Society. The Valliammai Society was founded by Dr.T.R.Paarivendhar , a well-known educationist, in the name of his mother Tmt. R.Valliammai, under whose care and guidance he attained greater heights in his personal development and whose ideals continue to inspire him.

VEC Chennai Principal Message

Dr.B.Chidhambara Rajan was born on 31st July 1967 at Ambasamudram, Tirunelveli. He obtained his Bachelors degree in Electronics & Communications engineering, Masters degree in Microwave & Optical engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai. He has 21 years of teaching experience in government and reputed private institutions. He is a member of professional societies like IEEE, IETE, IEI, ISTE, CSI, ISOI, etc. He has published several technical papers in national and international journals and conferences.
 People relying on yesterday’s idea have no chance of survival in today’s competitive environment where change is at the speed of thought.
 The pace of change requires continuous improvement and constant learning. Keeping this in mind, we at VEC train our students to be fully prepared for the challenges of the future.
We offer innovative and experimental teaching methods to make a learning process extremely enjoyable and enlightening.

Eligibility
The elgibilty criteria for admission into the B.E/B.Tech Courses and M.E/MBA/MCA Courses are,
B.E/B.Tech
Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the HSC (+2) examination conducted by the state and through counselling (TNEA) conducted by Anna univeristy Chennai, selected candidates are allotted to various colleges for admission. Candidates may also appear directly for admission to the College under Management Quota. Admission forms may be obtained from the college office.
Eligibility : + 2 or equivalent, as per norms and guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu/Anna University and AICTE for UG courses.
M.E / MBA /MCA
Candidates for the admission to the first semester of the Master’s Degree Programme shall be required to have passed an appropriate U.G degree examination of Anna University or any other examination of any University or authority accepted by the Syndicate of Anna University as equivalent thereto.
Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the common entrance examination (TANCET) conducted by the state and selected candidates are allotted to various colleges for admission. Details regarding the entrance examination are published in the newspapers well in advance every year. Candidates may also appear directly for admission to the College under Management Quota. Appearing for entrance examination for these seats is a must and this entrance examination is counducted by the college on its campus. Admission forms may be obtained from the Admission office.
Eligibility : As per norms and guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu/Anna University and AICTE for PG courses.

INFRASTRUCTURES : With respect to infrastructure, SRM group of institutions are second to none. VEC has been developed and fully established with 5 imposing multi-storeyed Academic Blocks and 2 Workshop BlocksAll the laboratories have adequate facilities with the latest equipment and machinery to provide optimum exposure to students to learn the subjects both in theoretical and applied aspects.
CENTRAL LIBRARY : VEC Library is a paradise for those who have a passion for reading Books and enthusiasm for widening their knowledge base in depth and extent. It has a fully equipped spacious library in an area of 2700 Sq.m is spread over 2 storeys and is housed in the New Block. The college has also subscribed for 315 journals and magazine periodicals including IEEE online journal, to give an exposure to our students to the latest technology. The college has a very good separate reference section, two reading halls, a reprographic section and a CD section to cater to the needs of the students and faculty.
HOSTELS : There are two separate hostels for boys and girls students accommodating about 1200 students. All the hostels have necessary infrastructure and modern kitchen. The inmates are provided with a cot, a chair and a table. There is a cooperative store available in the hostel, to serve the day-to-day needs of the inmates. Hostel admission form is available in the hostel office for sale on payment.
