Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada was established in 1977. It is the first private engineering college in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a self financing institution which owes its foundation to the bold and inspired vision of Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, Vijayawada. The college has about 4000 students, more than 250 faculties and around 200 technical and supporting staff.The College is recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and the Institution of Engineers (India) and accredited thrice by NBA (National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi).The college was granted Autonomous status by UGC in the year 2006. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. The National board of Accreditation awarded Accreditation grades for a period of 3 years, in respect of Mechanical Engineering, civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communications Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. The college was granted Autonomous Status by UGC.

However, it is possible to get permission to spend one semester elsewhere.
